Safari Nights at the Dallas Zoo!

Safari Nights kicked off Saturday, June 7, and will run for eight consecutive Saturdays.

In just a few hours, guests can explore the Zoo during the day, then relax on a blanket or lawn chair on shady Cat Green for the entertainment, which begins at 7 p.m.

Embrace some of the best live music from original songwriters and tribute bands until 9 p.m. and visit stars from the Animal Adventures outreach program.

The concerts are free with Zoo admission (FREE for members!).

Food will be available for purchase, along with soft drinks, cold beer, and wine.

The lineup, arranged through a partnership with The Kessler in Oak Cliff, includes:

June 7: The Killdares (Celtic rock)

June 14: Brave Combo  (polka/rock/world beat)

June 21: Escape (Journey tribute)

June 28: Sara Hickman (Texas singer/songwriter)

July 5: A Hard Night’s Day (The Beatles tribute) 

July 12: FastLane (Eagles tribute)

July 19: Petty Theft and Bird Dogs (Tom Petty tribute/Texas country)

July 26: The O’s (acoustic country/bluegrass)

6/13 Fair Park Sparks

Friday June 13th from 5:00pm-10:30 PM.


Fair Park Sparks is a family-oriented outdoor festival to celebrate the addition of thousands of new decorative enhancement lights that will illuminate Fair Park’s historical buildings, grounds and the ever-popular Esplanade Fountain.


Bands Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Sugar Ray will headline two performance stages along with a lineup of local artists who will be announced soon.


Synchronized music shows will occur at Esplanade Fountain throughout the night and a fireworks display will conclude the evening.


Other activities include:

  • Roving entertainers
  • Artist gallery and Wine Bar
  • Lighting Automobile Building, Centennial Building, Hall of State, Women’s Museum, Parry Ave Gates, MLK and Grand Avenue gates, plus 120 trees. Over a million lights will be lit up!

Jazz Under The Stars

6/21 – FREE, FUN for Adults, Kids, and your Furry Friends :)

This is the second season of a new tradition for jazz in the heart of downtown Dallas and represents

a significant milestone for the both Klyde Warren Park and Uptown Jazz Dallas (the Festival organization).

Together, we’ll bring you the best park experience featuring our area’s top jazz artists from North Texas

as well as, internationally acclaimed jazz/soul performances.

Know Before You Go:

Get there early to get a good spot.

Yes you can bring your own food, Food Trucks wil be available, alcohol will be prohibited.

Valet Parking at Savor, several lots, and meters is available – free parking is scarce

DART is availble but limited and several blocks away



Comedy Night at the Pocket Sandwich Theater

Tuesday Night is Improv Comedy Night at the Pocket Sandwich Theater. Three different improvised comedy acts as usual, I believe it’s $7 with a valid student ID and $12 general admission.

Tuesday is $2 Tapas!

Every Tuesday Cafe Izmir has $2 Tapa Night. If you have never tried Mediterranean Cuisine, this is a goodd introduction to get your feet wet. My suggestion is to start with the Hummus and warm Pita brea. Then Dive into the Grilled Veggies and Beef Kabobs And for our Vegetarian friendds, there are plenty of Veggie/Fruit choices. Finish off your meal with Baklava & Turkish Coffee for Dessert.
